It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…you just might discover your next “must-read” book! Kellee Moye, of Unleashing Readers, and Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts are the smart folks behind giving It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus! Join me!

Listening to:  I read Bob by Rebecca Stead and Wendy Mass. LOVED IT! Perfect read aloud in a 2nd – 3rd grade classroom, I think. I also started two books that I could not finish. I think it’s important to note that I do this a lot – in the books I listen to and the ones I read. I think some folks feel like if they start a book, they MUST finish it. I am not one of those people. There are too many great books out there I want to check out! The two I started but couldn’t get into are In the Great Green Room by Amy Gary (it’s a biography about Margaret Wise Brown! I so wanted to get into this book!) and Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein. Like, Girl, Wash Your Face, this one keeps popping up on “we think you’ll like these titles” lists. But, no. I don’t. You might, though! I start Ghost Boys today and am looking forward to it.

On my nightstand:  Still reading my signed copy (!) of Rebound by Kwame Alexander.

Reading with the toddler:  This week, she’s been into Baby’s First Words by Blackstone  and Dr. Seuss’ ABC.

What are YOU reading?
