It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…you just might discover your next “must-read” book! Kellee Moye, of Unleashing Readers, and Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts are the smart folks behind giving It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus! Join me!

Listening to: I finished 13 Things Mentally Strong Parents Don’t Do by Morin. Good book for parents and teachers about the things we say to our children (and even the things we DO around them) and how those lead to learned helplessness and low self esteem. Practical, smart tips on how to change little things to increase your child’s mindset. I also finished We Are Okay by Nina LaCour. I loved this book. Accurate portrayal of grief, love, and hope. Just started Mind in the Making by Galinsky, which has a pretty slow start – it’s a parenting book for best practices, but starts with a bunch of quizzes and things, and that’s hard to listen to…sticking through it though!

Toddler: She has recently started pulling out all of the touch and feel books off of her shelves, so this week we have read many books about farm animals and dogs – basically, anything soft!
