No, I didn’t get lost and Yes, I am still working! I just took an unexpected Blogcation…but, I’m back! I THINK I’m up to date on my Monday (It’s Monday! What are you reading?!) and Tuesday (Book Talk Tuesday) posts…going to try to get back in the grove of my lesson posts…
After those big events, we helped 5th graders with inventor projects. They researched an inventor, found a picture of that inventor and then recorded their information using the FaceTalker app. Almost immediately after that, they moved into country research and the library was transformed to Ellis Island for our annual reenactment.
Kindergarten students and 1st graders wrapped up their participation in the Global Read Aloud (which focused on books by Amy Krouse Rosenthal…one of my favs!). Before the holidays, we read gingerbread stories and holiday stories to these grade levels. Kindergarten students went on their Gingerbread Man QR code scavenger hunt…never found him! But, he left us cookies!
1st graders had a moon lesson using the “Moon in my Room.” This year, in addition to the recording that you can download when you have a moon in your room, I read aloud a non-fiction moon book. Great lesson and so fun to hear the 1st graders “ohh” and “ahh” over the moon changing shape.
MakerSpace Moments focused on sewing in November and December. We sewed easy burlap pillows with plastic kid-friendly needles.
Lion Cub Story Time in December was a gingerbread theme. We read gingerbread man stories and decorated a bookmark for our craft. Snack was (of course) gingerbread cookies!
Now it is a NEW YEAR and we have a lot of exciting things planned. I sent out the January Newsletter yesterday (our first day back to school) and we are moving right along in this new year! I promise to get back into my weekly updates.
Baby update – she’s crawling, eating more solids, drinking out of a sippy cup and can use a straw! We expect that she will be moving away to college in a minute. This parenting thing is no joke!
I hope you all had a WONDERFUL holiday and that your NEW YEAR is all you want it to be! Thanks for sticking with me!
