I have a love/hate relationship with snow. I’m not going to deny that snow days aren’t fun and a nice unexpected break, but I do love to stick to my regular schedule and when I get thrown off of it (like my gym isn’t open or I can’t get to the grocery store to run my errands), I get a little upset. BUT, I do love watching my dogs run in the snow and listening to the quiet of the world when you wake up to find that it has snowed overnight…so nice! When I was planning this Story Time, we had had a few very cold and wet days…no snow, but it felt that it was a very real possibility. The day of this Story Time, however, the high was 70 degrees. That’s life in South Carolina for you 😉
Here’s what we did…even if it was a little warm to “think snow.”
Nametags looked like snowballs (easy circles).
Played a snowman themed playlist on Spotify as they walked in and looked for books to check out.
Started with Frozen Noses by Carr
Told a snowflake cut and tell story from this blog.
Played a little snowman ball toss! My ball toss looks just like this ball toss!
For the craft, they made snowman bookmarks (or puppets…whatever you want to do with them!) When you click on the link, scroll down to find the snowman puppets. There are a ton of other great ideas on this blog post too.
Snack was a baggie with instant hot chocolate, a snowman peep marshmallow and some extra mini-marshmallows for good measure!
We had SNOW much FUN!
