Happy New Year!
Week 19 was a short week that felt like a really long week. I’m not sure how that happens…
We were off on Monday, so that day was spent on the couch with my dogs for one last day. On Tuesday, we had a Teacher Workday, so our students weren’t even back yet and I spent that day planning for the upcoming couple of weeks and continuing to work on my Long Term Sub Plans (my last day is February 27ish, which feels like it will be here VERY SOON! And that means that a BABY will be here VERY SOON. CRAZY!)
I only saw 2 of my Kindergarten classes this week. I did my favorite lesson for the New Year with them – talking about New Year’s Resolutions, learning about Charles Atlas (I read the book Strong Man: The Story of Charles Atlas by Megan McCarthy), and some exercising with Slim Goodbody and Deskercise to get us started with healthy habits in the new year.
I saw my new group of 5th grade Media Technology students for the first time on Friday. We did “about me” Tagxedos. They all finished! In one class period! That is a first…so proud.
I planned a Makerspace PD I am doing (along with a couple of other LMS) for the Greenville County Library Media Specialists next week. And, speaking of Makerspaces, our new Makerspace Moments began this week. In honor of the 100th day of school (coming up at the end of this month), the NPES Makerspace has activities that are all centered around building things using 100 items – 100 LEGOS, 100 cups, 100 marshmallows and toothpicks, etc.
The January Learning Commons Newsletter went out this week…and, the rest of the week was spent continuing to plan for upcoming events and lessons…how was your week?
