This week, Kindergarten read one of my newest favorites, Sophie’s Squash by Miller. After reading the book, we learned a little bit more about how squash grow (we watched this really cool time lapse video about squash) and then we made our own Fall Friend.
5th grade Media Technology students created a “life equation” using the Doodle Buddy app and Keynote. I read This + That by Rosenthal to them and then they wrote their own equations with pictures. They brought those equations into Keynote, added text, saved as PDF and done!
I started inventor research with 5th grade. This is a quick “intro” to research project that we do each year. Students are assigned an inventor. They answer some pretty simple questions about that inventor and then they create a project to present what they’ve learned. This year, we used the Facetalker app to share what they learned about their inventor. Cute!
It’s a new month, so our Makerspace Moments Spotlight changed! We are now focusing on CIRCUITS. I have three areas set up: Circuit Blocks (wooden blocks with different parts nailed on. Kids use alligator clips to see if they can make the lights turn on and the buzzer buzz); Snap Circuits (I have a kit); and an area where they can create an LED picture. Fun!
I sent out the November Learning Commons newsletter and continued getting ready for Book Fair! It will be here before we know it! What did you do this week?
