2014 – 2015 Week 11

This week, I spent a good bit of time preparing for our Scholastic Book Fair! Book Fair is November 17 – 21. It will be here before we know it!

Kindergarten classes read Bats at the Library by Lies and then created their own “book bats” (using the template available on Lies website). We *had* to do something “batty,” in honor of Halloween!

My 1st grade class participating in the Global Read Aloud, read Ish by Peter Reynolds this week. After we read the book, I had a number of different looking pumpkins, gourds, and squash laid out with art supplies. The 1st graders did their best to draw one of those gourds. We called them our “Squashish” drawings. On Thursday, we shared some of our drawings with our partner class in Colorado via Skype.

5th grade Media Technology students wrapped up their lesson about Garageband. We also posted a new episode of our podcast.

On Thursday afternoon, the Computer Lab teacher and I hosted our second Make Shop for Teacher’s Kids after school. This one focused on 3D printing using Tinkercad. We had quite a few technical difficulties, but I think we were finally able to make it work. Now we just have to print what they created.

How was your week?
