What Are You Reading? was first hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. If you’d rather follow folks who are reading books for grown ups, you should follow her Monday meme. I am participating in the kidlit version of this meme (although sometimes I actually read books for grown ups).
In Print: All new books! I am starting on next year’s South Carolina Book Award nominees with Summer of the Gypsy Moths by Pennypacker. I’m not too far in, but I am enjoying it. I also started reading Daily Rituals by Mason Currey. This book is really interesting…it has the rituals of famous artists, writers, musicians, etc. (what they ate, when they woke up, when they worked).
Listening to: Finished Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird. I love her. I’m not sure why it has taken so long for me to read her books. She’s funny, smart, and I pretty much agree with everything she says. After Bird by Bird, I started Emma Donoghue’s Frog Music. I really liked Room, but I wasn’t sure if I would like this one…just based on reading the description of the book…but, I’m glad I gave it a chance. I’m thinking about the characters when I’m not in my car and that’s always a good sign!
At school: We are finished with our ocean fun in Kindergarten…now it is time for BOOK FAIR!
What are you reading?
