#imwayr It’s Monday! What are you reading? 5.12.14

What Are You Reading? was first hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. If you’d rather follow folks who are reading books for grown ups, you should follow her Monday meme. I am  participating in the kidlit version of this meme (although sometimes I actually read books for grown ups).

In Print: Enjoyed the newest Origami Yoda book, Princess Labelmaker to the Rescue. I’m now reading a recommendation from one of our 3rd grade teachers, The Power of Poppy Pendle by Natasha Lowe. Poppy is a witch who does not want to go to “witch school.” Instead, she wants to bake. I like her.

Listening to: Finished Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith. Like I said last week, I’m glad I didn’t read what it was about before I started listening to it, because I never would have even picked it up. There were times that I really just wanted to stop reading it (grossed me out), but I liked the main character so much, that I wanted to find out what happened to him…and, I was worried about his dog (who ends up to be just fine and alive at the end – FYI). It is Science Fiction and it is about the end of the world…my least favorite genre and subject. If you like Science Fiction, you will probably really enjoy this book. Now, I’m listening to something much more my speed, Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird.

At school: In Kindergarten, we are still learning about the ocean…plus, the school year is quickly winding down! How’d that happen so fast?!

What are you reading?
