What Are You Reading? was first hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. If you’d rather follow folks who are reading books for grown ups, you should follow her Monday meme. I am participating in the kidlit version of this meme (although sometimes I actually read books for grown ups).
In Print: The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes I’m enjoying this one. I think that my 2nd – 3rd grade teachers would like it as a read aloud. I think I’ve heard some Newbery buzz for it and I’m not sure if I agree with that, but I do like the story. PS – by the time you read this, we will KNOW who won the Newbery! YAY!
Listening to: Just finished Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan. SUCH A GOOD BOOK. Told from the viewpoint of gay men who have passed away (most from AIDS in the 1980s) who are “watching” gay teens of today. Heartbreaking at times, encouraging at times….just good. Read it. If you like to listen to books, this one is extra awesome as an audio book, because Levithan is reading it.
At school: Book Award time! This week, Rrrralph!
