Week 18

I am writing about Week 18 on the first day of our WINTER BREAK! It is finally here!

Here’s what we did last week in my Learning Commons:

5th grade Media Technology learned about Kerpoof and created a card or movie to tell next semester’s Media Tech kids what to expect. When we return to school in January, I will have a whole new set of kids in that class and we will start from the beginning again! There are some things I will change, but for the most part, I really liked the layout of the class this semester. Took a few years to get it headed in the right direction, but I think it is finally there!

My Kindergarten classes continued reading stories about snow and going through the snow centers I had set up. You can read about the centers in last week’s post. I read Snowballs by Lois Ehlert to them this week.

I read Claude the Dog: A Christmas Story by Dick Gackenbach to a 1st grade class this week (clearly, based on the price at Amazon, I checked it out from my public library). I have only recently heard about this book, even though it is from the 1970’s! It is totally one of my favorites now…I learned about it from my friend, Betsy (of course!). I read the book to them and then we wrote about how we will be like Claude this Christmas and do something nice for someone else. I made a little template they used…typical first grade stuff: box for a picture, lines for writing. They came up with some really cute stuff.

That about wraps up (get it!?) my week last week! How was your last week of school? What are your plans for the break? I am going to TRY, TRY, TRY to unplug at least a few days during the holiday. I am so bad at doing this, though!

Happy holidays to you and yours! 🙂
