STORY TIME – Snowflake/Snow Theme

During the month of December, you just HAVE to do a snow/snowman/winter story time theme, yes? YES!

Here’s my plan:

*Have Snow themed playlist on Spotify playing

*Read Millions of Snowflakes by Siddals, having them act out what is happening in the book.

*Do Five Little Snowflakes fingerplay. You have to scroll down a little bit to find it.

*Read There was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow by Colandro. Kids love these old lady books!

*Play Snowman Snowball Toss. I got the idea from this blog post.  Made my own snowman using poster board and an Exacto knife. I was using baby socks as my snowballs, but then Books Are Fun came to school and they were selling a bucket of snowballs. Perfect!

*Read Snowballs by Lois Ehlert

*Do this Snowman in a Baggie craft (smells like a fresh shaven man in my library, but totally worth it!)

*Checkout and take home an individually wrapped rice krispy treat. I decorated the treats to look like a snowman (so easy – on the clear wrapper of the treat, I used a black sharpie to draw circles for the eyes and mouth and an orange sharpie to draw the carrot nose).

Great fun!
