What Are You Reading? was first hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. If you’d rather follow folks who are reading books for grown ups, you should follow her Monday meme. I am participating in the kidlit version of this meme (although sometimes I actually read books for grown ups).
In Print: Living With Jackie Chan by Jo Knowles. I read See you at Harry’s by Knowles last summer and LOVED it. So, when I was in Austin last week and in need of a good book to read, I was glad to stumble on the Austin Young Adult Book Festival, where Jo Knowles was speaking! I did not get to hear her speak, but I DID get to purchase this book…signed! It is about a teen who has fathered a child – he moves in with his uncle, who is obsessed with Jackie Chan. There is a couple with a baby living upstairs and the babies cries are very hard for the teen take…not sure why just yet – I’m getting to that part soon, I think!
At School: Skunkdog by Jenkins Cute picture book about a dog who becomes friends with a skunk. I love reading this when my kindergarten students are learning about the 5 senses, which is exactly what is going on their classrooms this week.
