What Are You Reading? was first hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. If you’d rather follow folks who are reading books for grown ups, you should follow her Monday meme. I am participating in the kidlit version of this meme (although sometimes I actually read books for grown ups).
Rules by Lord I could have sworn I’ve read this before, but I haven’t. SUCH a good book. The main character has an autistic brother, who she loves, but she gets frustrated and sad that he is not “regular.” She also becomes friends with a boy who (I think) has Cerebral Palsy. Excellent novel for upper elementary students. Reminds me of Out of My Mind by Draper.
I am STILL reading Caldecott medal and honor books for the #nerdcott challenge. I am to the point now where I have to get books from our university library, Thomas Cooper Library. I have read through all that my local public libraries have. I WILL finish this challenge SOON (hopefully by 2014).
Doll Bones by Black This one is about a group of friends who still play with dolls, even though they maybe should have grown out of that by now. This is a mystery and kids who like scary, creepy books will like this one (but, it isn’t TOO scary or creepy). One of the dolls is haunting the group of kids and they are trying to make the doll/ghost happy by doing what it asks. Page turner, for sure!
Mr. Wiggle’s Book to Kindergarten. Love this one to teach them about taking care of their library books.
