Storytime – Time to Eat!

Storytime this month was all about FOOD!

I created a food-themed playlist on Spotify.

I had laminated pictures of fruit for them to pick when they walked in. The fruit went along with “Fruit Salad Salsa” by Laurie Berkner (mangoes, oranges, apples, papaya, bananas, etc.)

After everyone had their apple nametag, we sat in a circle and read Lunch by Denise Fleming.

Then we read Fast Food by Joost Elffers. SUCH A COOL BOOK!

After that, it was time to move, so we did the “fruit salad salsa”. I made shakers with easter eggs and lentils. Note to self – glue the eggs together next time (lentils are a little like glitter, if you know what I mean). When Berkner sang about their fruit (the one they picked when they got here), they got up and danced. I got the idea from this blog post.

After dancing, we read one of my favorites, Banana! by Ed Vere and then went bananas with Harry Kindergarten.

Our last book was How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? by Jane Yolen

Our craft was silly fruit faces (so easy!)

And the snack was fruit snacks from Aldi (I love Aldi…so much).

Everyone left happy and hungry 🙂
