This was another short week (for me, anyway). I had two all day district meetings this week – one on Tuesday and one on Friday. I may not have been in the building very much, but it was still a busy week in the NPES Learning Commons!
I started animal research with Kindergarten. Each class focused on a different animal. I read a non-fiction book to them and then they shared 1 interesting thing they learned from the book. I wrote down their fact on a post-it and they illustrated the fact and copied what I wrote under their picture. I took pictures of their illustrations and uploaded them to Little Bird Tales. Once the pictures and text were in Little Bird Tales, I recorded each student sharing their animal fact. Little Bird Tales allows you to print a PDF of the book once it is complete, so I printed that out so that they could make a class book to keep in the classroom. They can also listen to the books online. Check out what Mrs. DeMaster’s class learning about owls! I love the way they turned out! Our Technology Integration Specialist helped record the facts and my assistant led the lesson while I was at my meetings. I’m lucky to have such a great team!
Our 5th grade Media Technology students are participating in the Holiday Card Exchange through Projects by Jen. The theme is “snowglobe.” We have been teaching them about Kerpoof, so they used that site to create their holiday card. They did awesome! The cards have been mailed and now we just wait.
We have big plans for December. Check out our newsletter for more information!
