It’s Monday! What are you Reading? 9/17/2012

What Are You Reading? was first hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. If you’d rather follow folks who are reading books for grown ups, you should follow her Monday meme. I will be (mostly) participating in the kidlit version of this meme (at least I think so….right now).

Listening to – Wild by Cheryl Strayed Really enjoying this one. Almost finished. Makes me think about my mom a lot.

In print- The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum I’m not sure if I’ve ever read this book. I was inspired to read it after attending a lung cancer support group meeting with my dad…there was a man there (a man who has been a cancer survivor for a LONG time…which is awesome) who asked me if I knew what color Dorothy’s shoes were in Wizard of Oz. When he asked, I knew there had to be some tricky answer. Of course, everyone says that they are red….are they? He said I’d have to read the book to find out. So, I am. I do remember going to a little bookstore in Irmo (near Kroger) FOREVER ago and getting some of the Oz books with my grandfather. I remember him reading Ozma of Oz to me. I loved it. I don’t remember reading the rest of the series though…next challenge, perhaps?

As always, a big stack of Caldecotts for #nerdcott

I hope you have a wonderful week!

I read Dorothy of Oz of Sunnybrook Farms and I do not think she was wearing any shoes!
