What happened to the summer? It went by in a FLASH! Teachers in my district went back to work on Wednesday, August 15. Our kiddos will join us on Wednesday, August 22. Here is a rundown of what I’ve done this summer (both professional and personal).
*Participated in #bookaday and #summerthrowdown challenges. I am so going to do this again. A fun way to keep accountable for reading over the summer. I’m a librarian, I’m going to read over the summer, but participating in a challenge made me read MORE, no doubt about it! I am going to do a challenge during the school year, but I haven’t quite decided which one yet.
*Practiced LOTS of yoga. I even went on a yoga retreat! WHAT?! Awesome.
*Started a Couch to 5K program, which I am about to finish and I have not yet signed up for any 5K – I think I’ve just challenged myself to find one!
*Drank some juice that I made from real fruits and veggies – nothing else added (the only way you really should be drinking juice, yes?)
*Spent lots of time on social networks (this is good and bad). I have an account to just about any social network there is. And, I have spent loads of time on each and every one of them this summer. This is good because I learn SO MUCH from my PLN on Twitter (@librarygoddess and @mrsbyrdfort) and Facebook. I get SO MANY ideas from the folks I follow on Pinterest. This is bad because I should probably be spending some of that time with my dogs and my husband and my friends and my dad. Right? Right. Let’s work on that.
*Did some Learning Commons Beautification (with mucho, mucho help from my dad and Pinterest). Will post pictures in another blog post.
*Lesson Planning (if you call scrolling through Pinterest “lesson planning”). You’ll be hearing about this stuff throughout the year!
Overall, I’ve had a GREAT summer and I am ready for the new year…here’s a rundown of what I am looking forward to this school year:
*Continuing some projects in the Learning Commons to make it more of a
“Maker” environment and a multi-use space. Gotta keep dad busy, right?
*Working with my teachers MORE. For the first time ever, I have a nearly fully flexible schedule. I do have kindergarten every day and a 5th grade class 3 times a week, however, other than that, I am flexible. I have much more open space to collaborate with my teachers and I am looking forward to what we can do together!
There is so much to look forward to this year and I can’t wait!
Happy NEW YEAR!
