This week we celebrated Read for the Record in my
library Learning Commons. I read Llama Llama Mad at Mama to kindergarten and 1st grade. Some classes got to read it online at the We Give Books webpage, but for one class the internet was down, so they were stuck with me 🙂 That same class also got to do a little creative writing, because we could not explore the author’s website or play the “Where is Llama” game like I had intended. They drew a picture and wrote about what their mom (or dad or grandpa or grandma) does after they are tucked in at night (makes sense if you have read the book). I mostly got a lot of pictures of people watching TV, but a couple of them were kind of funny. One said, “My mom rolls around in dirt.” Another said, “My mom goes shopping.” Silly!
The week was fairly short because we had early release on Wednesday and no school Friday. I met with grade levels to talk about upcoming lessons and we had our district library media specialist/technology integration specialist meeting. The lesson above is really all I have for this week! Next week looks to be pretty interesting – JJK read aloud on the hour, every hour on Tuesday (love that guy!), Fall-themed yoga, some partner yoga/cooperation lessons with my guidance counselor, AND the return of Lion Cub and Park North storytime! Whew!
PS – In personal news, I have formed a team for the Midlands Lung Cancer Walk, in honor of my mom – November 6 at 2pm. Join us or if you can’t walk with us, but would like to donate, that is super nice too!
