Every school year, I am amazed at how fast it goes by. How is it already October?!
Right now, I am sitting with my USC SLIS 325 students while they do an Internet Scavenger hunt. I created the “hunt” because I did not think they were exploring the websites I’ve been sending them. Now, they are answering questions found on the sites. I hope they find it useful! These are fantastic sites for librarians AND classroom teachers (my USC students are future classroom teachers). Here are the sites they are exploring:
Hit the Ground Running (Esme Codell)
While they complete this assignment, I’m taking the chance to update my blog…I have recently learned that I actually have readers! YAY! 🙂
SO, first thing to update is I have started to do my apartment complex storytimes once a month (I did them every other week during the summer). We had our first one last week and the turn out was pretty amazing. It was very sweet how when my car pulled up, every kid who was outside got real excited and tried to jump in my car. Once I got in and settled, here’s what we did:
Read – Book! Book! Book! by Deborah Bruss
The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers
Sang – Comin’ Down to Storytime (based on book by Rob Reid)
Craft – book mark
Snack – book worms (gummy worms, of course!)
Everyone had a great time and I can’t wait till next time…the theme will be pumpkin, bats, etc. It will be close to Halloween, after all!
In my personal life, my hubby and I are shopping around for a vacuum and a mattress…any suggestions?
