MySpace Uncovered

I probably should have posted information about this ahead of time…but, I just returned from being on a panel at the Southeast Regional Branch of the Richland County Public Library called MySpace Uncovered. I was on the panel with Media Literacy Consultant Frank Baker, USC Assistant Professor Dr. Chris Roberts, and RCPL Teen Volunteer Brittany Walker. We talked about being safe online, gave background information about MySpace and FaceBook and other social networking sites. I made a handout for parents to take with them with tips for internet safety. I hope the parents there went home and signed in to MySpace…they need to know what it’s all about! I have uploaded the handout here…feel free to use and share!

  1. Great tips. Too many parents and kids are in the dark about Internet safety. Thank you for the handout.

I just looked at your handout on How to Be Safe Online and thought it would be useful for public library children’s/teen librarians as well. Would you object to my sharing it with the public libraries. I will, of course, give you credit.
